Henry's Lake, not as good as expected...

I went to Henry's Lake this last weekend with my cousin to try our luck from shore.  Usually this time of year the fish come into shore and become an easy target for shore fishermen. However, last weekend this did not occur.  I caught 4 fish using a Halloween leech stripping in very very slowly.  (A lot of the time you will catch the fish on the drop so pay attention to your line).  I caught one more fish on the trip with a very flashy zonker.  My cousin only caught one with a Christmas leech, once again pulling it in very very slowly.  Although this trip was not as successful as normal it was still fun and the fish were big and fought hard.  I will write this trip down as a success.

NOTE:  Water levels are down about 5 feet and Island Park, ID area had a hot summer.

The fishing was awesome!!!  I fly fished and had success using an olive colored bead head woolly bugger, Christmas leach, and a pheasant tailed nymph dropper.  Me and the friends I went with had the most success with the Christmas leach, which is just a red and green leach pattern.  I worked so well that i was able to catch fish on it even when it was completely torn apart and there was no more hackle on it. As far as spin rods go, I heard people doing really well with spinners and people seemed to be doing really well bait fishing as well.  My cousin has more information about Henry's Lake at http://www.piraflyfishing.com/fly-fishing-blog.html.
